Solution: Teens Finding Friends

My 15-year-old daughter is having trouble finding friends. It seems that if you don’t have interest in all the “programmed” activities, there is no one left to do some private and smaller group activities with.We wish she could just find (on her own) other people who have (1) something in common and (2) free time to share together. (She also has a stressful amount of  homework.) Any suggestions?

Encourage her to invite a few girls over for pizza, some favorite music, video games, wii, a fun movie. When she makes one friend, then she can have someone to join one activity or sport with, and it’ll be easier to then meet another.

Homework: Give her rewards for completing it — and invite girls over for study groups with refreshments and rewards. Then move on to friends’ visits,  pajama parties, etc. —  all on a regular basis to build confidence.
