Keeping your home tidy is often an arduous task, but when you throw kids into the mix especially pre-schoolers, it can often be a challenging job that takes patience and consistency to tackle. A tidy home can help everyone relax and feel good about their property, so keeping on top of these chores will help to ensure you have a clear space for a calm mind. However, this is easier said than done and tackling those jobs when you have young children vying for your attention can be difficult. It is important to remember it is not entirely impossible though, so using these handy tips to get your home looking spotless (well almost) will give you extra peace of mind if you have any surprise guests.

Don’t expect perfection all the time

Before you had children messing up every room, you probably had a definition of what perfect cleaning looked like. Now that you have children, it might be time to revisit this definition. Of course, you don’t want to throw your standards out the window completely but accepting an element of imperfection in your cleaning habits will ensure any misplaced toyswon’t drive you to distraction.

Work with everyone

Smaller children won’t fully understand the concept of tidying everything away to keep the house clean, but as they start to grow up, you can begin to install the importance of looking after their belongings and putting things back once they’ve finished with them. This isn’t just going to happen overnight, but consistency and reward will help you work with them and not against them.

Don’t let them have every single toy straightaway

Children accumulate tons of toys over time, and most of the time you’ll notice they only play with a handful of them. To make life easier for yourself, try sticking to a box of toys they love playing with and start to whittle down the rest unless they specifically ask for them. By doing this, you won’t have boxes of toys to pick up after play, and you are also encouraging your kids to make choices rather than giving them everything at once.

Use a professional cleaner

With kids, you may have to deal with those little mishaps such as spillages or general wear and tear on your flooring, so using professional carpet cleaning services can help to tackle those harder stains and larger cleaning jobs with ease.

Tidy before going to bed

If your home is messy and things are left out, it is likely to play on your mind, as you’ll have to face it in the morning. Before you head to bed, do a sweep of each room, especially the playroom, and do a quick tidy to get most of it packed away. It doesn’t have to be perfect either, but just removing some of the clutter will help you sleep better.

Trying to keep your home tidy with kids can be challenging but remembering that you don’t have to be perfect will reduce your stress levels for a happier lifestyle.
