Instilling the love of reading into a child is one of the greatest lifetime gifts any parent can give his child.  People who read are more engaging, make better money, and live fuller lives. (There are countless studies that back up those facts.)  But getting a child something that is engaging for them to read is a tough challenge.  It is with this in mind that we asked the question over on our sister site, Idea Offer, “What do you think is the best chapter books for a child who likes to read?

The winning post was from myidea who wrote:

Depending on your child: Classics- The Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew, Encyclopedia Brown, The Narnia series by CS Lewis, Treasure Island, Misty of Chincoteauge Island, Boxcar Children (original), A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle, Red Badge of Courage, Pollyanna, Anne of Green Gables, My Side of the Mountain, Little House on the Prairie series, Ramona or Henry & Ribsy series

Modern stuff: Junie B. Jones series, Cam Jansen series, Magic Tree House series, Clementine series, Judy Moody series

Lots of people also repeated the suggestion of the Laura Ingalls Wilder series, as well as the Chronicles of Narnia.  There are a lot of great choices out there to get kids engaged in reading.  You just have to pick the right one for your child.
