Just for Fun

December 18th, 2009 by Ronald A. Rowe | Learning, Preschool
One of the many joys and responsibilities of parenting is that we get to be there to  help guide our children as they learn and develop.  At two and three years old, they start to wonder about the mysteries of the world.  As parents, we have the immense privilege of answering some of the big, eternal questions that children pose.

Just for fun, I present here an unembellished transcript of a real conversation that took place between my lovely wife and my recently-potty trained son in a Wal-Mart ladies’ room. For some of you, this might bring back memories of

Gift Cards as Gifts?

December 16th, 2009 by Michele | Holidays, Teens

I do not use spanking with my child, but I am not saying that my method of disciplining my child is the best one. I see other parents who use spanking to discipline their children, and I see that they seem to get good results with that method. To spank or

Christmas Is Coming

December 7th, 2009 by Ronald A. Rowe | Holidays, Television
Christmas is coming, just around the corner. That means that it is time to begin the age-old tradition of begging for every toy shown on every commercial. Just when my older son finally has grown out of it, my younger son has taken up the mantel and asks for everything.

The new twist that the little one has added is to occasionally say "I don't want that" when a Barbie or My Pretty Pony or something such shows up on the screen. But for the most part, it's "I want that on my Christmas list" all day, every
